Why Did God Allow Me to Go Through That?

Understanding God's Role in Our Suffering

In one of my earlier articles named "How to Cope with Anxiety as a Teenager: The Christian Way" , I had written about my experience of struggling with crippling anxiety as teenager which negatively affected my health and left me figuratively paralyzed, unable to do anything in life. During this time, when I looked at other people like friends and family enjoying their life and having a good time, there was only one question in my mind; "why would God allow me to go through this?"

Life is a bittersweet journey filled with mountains and valleys. All of us are bound to experience difficulties and problems at some time in our lives. When we are going through a difficult period, it is natural to wonder why God is allowing us to suffer. This issue might be especially difficult to answer when we believe we are being punished for something we did not do or when we witness people who appear to be living happy and blessed lives around us. In this post, we will look at the concept of suffering and how God plays a part in it.

Understanding Suffering

Suffering can be described as any physical or emotional pain, anguish, or distress we feel. It can be brought on by a number of circumstances, including disease, loss, rejection, or trauma. Pain is an unavoidable aspect of life, and it can be difficult to deal with.

Purpose of Suffering

You many not be able to clearly see what the purpose of your suffering is; but make no mistake, your pain is never in vain. Suffering, while unpleasant and difficult to comprehend, may also serve a purpose. Suffering, for example, might help us develop empathy and compassion for those who are going through similar circumstances. It can also help us become more resilient. Romans 5:3-4 says that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

God's Role in Suffering

When we are going through a difficult time, it is natural to ask why God is allowing us to suffer. It is important to remember that God does not cause suffering; rather, he allows it to happen for a greater purpose. God is a loving and compassionate God who wants what is best for us, even if that means allowing us to go through a difficult time.

Trusting God During Suffering

Trusting in God during a time of suffering can be difficult and it is easier said than done; but it can also provide us with comfort and strength. When we trust in God, we can have faith that he has a plan for us and that he will guide us through our struggles. Though His plan may be painful, it is good. We can also find solace in knowing that we are not alone, and that God is always with us, even in our darkest moments. Trusting Him means believing that God is in control over everything that happens in our life.

Overcoming Pain through Prayer

Prayer is another important tool for overcoming suffering. When we pray, we can ask God for strength, guidance, and comfort during difficult times. Prayer can be a powerful way to connect with God and to find peace and comfort during times of suffering. When we pray, there is a divine infusion of grace and strength in our times of need.

Role of Community

The role of community in overcoming suffering cannot be overemphasized. Community can take many forms, such as family, friends, church groups, or youth groups. When we are going through a tough time, it is important to reach out to those around us for help and support.

Remember, God loves us unconditionally, and his plan for our lives is ultimately for our good.
