Have you ever wished you could take hold of the reins of your life and control it the way you want? Have you ever wanted to sit on the driver's seat of your life and drive where you want and how you want? This is a poem I wrote about a person wanting to be the master of their own fate. And how fateful that desire is.
Make me the master of my own fate
What I prayed for yesterday, today I hate
My desires are like the pendulum ride
Let them rise, thrive and misguide
Give me my future and watch me make it a joke
In a day I’d make it go up in smoke
Set me free to follow the fantasies of my heart
Cuz they’re not harmful to anyone for the most part
Your future is in your hands they say
Heeding which would be the witless mistake I’d ever make
No matter how hard I curse or how many tantrums I throw
Help me know that you are unlike my shifting shadows
and to you alone belongs the throne
That the plans you have for me are good though the path is hard
Be the master of my fate and my life’s safeguard
